1. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide Directly

• Account Data: First name, age, email address, gender, native language, and the language you are learning.
• Social Sign-In: If you sign in via Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address (subject to your privacy settings with those providers).

B. Audio and Learning Content

• Voice & Audio: Your voice audio is transmitted to OpenAI for transcription. The transcribed text, along with your profile information, is then used to generate real-time conversational responses.
• Transcripts: Your speech is transcribed into text to provide feedback on grammar and vocabulary.
• Screen Sensing: When you share your screen with GameStudy, screenshots are transmitted to OpenAI to provide real-time, contextual learning insights based on what's on your screen.
• Camera: If you turn on your camera during a free conversation, still frames from it are transmitted to OpenAI so your AI companion can talk with you about what you are showing it. The camera is offered only in free conversation. It is not available during lessons, role-plays, missions, drills or games, and it is off until you switch it on. You can also use the camera to attach a photo when you contact our support team.

Note: We do not record or store video of your camera or screen sessions. Camera and screen images are processed in real-time and are not permanently stored by our AI providers.

C. Automated Technical Data

• Device Info: OS version, device model, and unique device identifiers.
• Usage Logs: Data on how you interact with GameStudy (session duration, features used) via PostHog.
• Session Recordings: Anonymized visual recordings of app sessions to improve the user experience. Text inputs and images are automatically masked to protect sensitive information.

2. How We Use Your Data

We process your data to turn your daily interactions into learning opportunities. Specifically, we use your information to:

• Provide Personal Insights: Transform your raw transcripts into actionable feedback, highlighting grammar improvements, expanding your vocabulary, and assessing your overall fluency level.
• AI Model Training: Improve the accuracy of GameStudy's learning features using de-identified data processed internally by Kai AI Labs. Your personal data is never shared with third-party AI providers for their own model training purposes.
• Core Functionality: Enable account synchronization and save your learning progress across sessions.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

We rely on third-party service providers to operate and improve GameStudy. These providers may receive and process your data on our behalf, including:

• AI Processing: Your conversation text, user profile information (such as first name, age, and language level), and screen or camera images (when screen sharing or the camera is active) are sent to OpenAI for generating personalized responses.
• Voice: GameStudy's spoken responses are generated by ElevenLabs.
• Cloud Hosting & Storage: Your account and session data are stored on AWS servers in the United States.
• Authentication: Firebase handles user sign-in and identity verification.
• Analytics: PostHog collects anonymized usage data to help us improve the app experience.
• YouTube API Services: GameStudy uses YouTube API Services to embed video clips inside vocabulary lessons. When you view embedded YouTube videos within GameStudy, YouTube may place cookies or similar technology on your device to deliver and measure that content. Your use of YouTube embeds is governed by Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

The providers listed in this section process your data in real time and do not retain, store, or use your data for their own model training. (The advertising partners in Section 4 are a separate case and are described there.) They are contractually required to provide the same or equal level of protection for your data as described in this Privacy Policy and may only process it to provide their services to Kai AI Labs.

4. Advertising and Attribution

We advertise GameStudy on other platforms, and we measure whether those ads work. That measurement is the only reason we collect advertising data. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show third-party ads inside the app.

• Your Choice Comes First: During onboarding, iOS asks whether you allow GameStudy to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. This is Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, or if you never answer, we do not access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), and our advertising partners are instructed not to use your data for cross-app tracking.
• Attribution: AppsFlyer records which ad or link led you to install GameStudy, and which key moments followed (for example, starting a trial), so we know which campaigns are worth running.
• Ad Platforms: Meta (Facebook) and Google receive measurement events about installs and subscriptions so they can report on the campaigns we run with them.
• What They Receive: Device and app information, an app-install identifier, and the events above. They receive your advertising identifier only if you allowed tracking. We never send them your conversations, transcripts, voice, camera images or screen images.
• Changing Your Mind: You can turn tracking off at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security → Tracking. Turning it off does not reduce anything the app does for you.

5. Children and Teenagers

Many of the people who learn with GameStudy are teenagers, and we take that seriously.

• Minimum Age: GameStudy is not for children under 13. The app will not let you set an age below 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
• Parental Permission: If you are under 18, you may use GameStudy only with the permission of a parent or guardian. We encourage parents to set it up alongside their child and to review this policy together.
• Where the Age of Consent Is Higher: Some countries, including several in the EU and the UK, set the age for consenting to data processing above 13. If you live somewhere with a higher threshold and are below it, a parent or guardian must give consent on your behalf before you use the App.
• If We Find Out: If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, or from a minor without the consent their country requires, we delete that account and its data promptly.
• For Parents: A parent or guardian can ask us to review, correct or delete their child's information, or withdraw consent, by writing to contact@gamestudy.ai. We may need to confirm your relationship to the account before acting.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

• Retention: We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is typically removed from our active databases within 30 to 60 days.
• AI Training Data: De-identified learning data may be retained for up to 2 years to ensure the continued improvement of our language models.
• User Control: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time through the Profile Settings in the app.

7. Your Rights & Choices

• Permissions: You can revoke GameStudy's access to your Microphone, Camera, or Screen Recording/Sensing permissions at any time through your iOS System Settings. You can withdraw permission to track separately, under Privacy & Security → Tracking.
• Global Rights: Depending on your location (e.g., EU, UK, California), you may have the right to access, correct, or port your data. We honor these requests globally.
• Legal Disclosures: We may disclose your data if required by law (e.g., a subpoena) or in the event of a business merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, provided the receiving party agrees to honor this Privacy Policy.

8. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures via AWS and Firebase to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
